Vehicle Technician (Engineering-Focused Fleet Operations) Location : San Francisco, CA

About the role We are looking to hire an experienced Vehicle Technician to support fleet readiness, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair operations.
This role is ideal for an engineering-focused automotive technician with strong mechanical and diagnostic experience who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented workshop environment. You will help ensure fleet vehicles are safe, operational, and ready for on-road testing and demonstrations.
Available Shifts First Shift
- Sunday–Thursday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- Tuesday–Saturday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- Thursday–Monday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Second Shift - Tuesday–Saturday | 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
- Thursday–Monday | 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
- Saturday–Wednesday | 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
Key Responsibilities - Perform vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and fleet reworks
- Configure, test, and sign off vehicles for safe on-road operation
- Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled service inspections
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and vehicle system issues
- Escalate complex technical issues to engineering teams when needed
- Coordinate repairs from diagnosis through resolution
- Develop and execute diagnostic test plans
- Maintain detailed service documentation and quality reports
- Support fleet readiness for testing and demonstrations
- Organize shop tools, equipment, and workspaces
- Assist with inventory management, parts organization, and logistics
- Travel locally as needed to support fleet operations
Required Qualifications - 2–4+ years of automotive technician or fleet maintenance experience
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair methods, tools, diagnostics, and vehicle systems
- Experience performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check, MVR check, and drug screening
- Forklift and/or gantry operation experience required
- Current forklift certification compliant with Cal/OSHA standards
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated team player
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in automotive engineering labs, research environments, Dyno labs, or battery testing facilities
- Knowledge of CAN bus systems, wiring diagrams, and soldering
- Experience towing trailers or transporting fleet vehicles
- Technical trade school certification or Associate Degree in Automotive Technology
- Ability to travel locally and occasionally nationally
