This key role coordinates the contemporary-leaning music ministry at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Billings, Montana, within the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, thereby helping others grow as dynamic disciples who believe, grow, gather, love, and lead in the spirit of Vatican II. The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of liturgical music and a deep concern for all ministers who make the celebration possible. The ability to effectively instruct, organize, and enable the various musical ministers will enhance the vibrancy of the ministry and the experience of parishioners. Although it is helpful to have keyboard skills, St. Pius X is blessed to have several accompanists, so this skill is not necessary. The music director coordinates all involved with the music ministry - accompanists, choirs, ensembles, cantors, instrumentalists, etc. - as well as the planning of liturgical music with pastoral team and planning committee(s) for liturgical events, including baptisms, reconciliation, confirmation, First Eucharist, communal anointing of the sick, weddings, funerals, etc. Requirements: Must be a fully-initiated, practicing Catholic in good standing. Minimum of one year of experience in music ministry preferred.
