Duties: Responsible for identifying, recruiting, selecting, enrolling and providing comprehensive academic, career, and postsecondary services to eligible Talent Search participants; report to the Talent Search Project Director; work with assigned school counselors and community leaders to coordinate tutoring, course advisement, financial aid, college enrollment, career workshops, and education and career enrichment activities; assist with recruitment and selection of eligible participants; refer ineligible students to appropriate social service agencies and programs; provide information on educational and career opportunities; assist participants with career exploration and goal setting; advise students on postsecondary institutions and enrollment options; assist with completion of college admissions and financial aid applications; coordinate and/or conduct financial aid workshops for parents and participants; coordinate tutoring services; conduct workshops to improve study skills and test-taking strategies; conduct orientation workshops for new participants and parents; coordinate parent involvement activities; maintain accurate participant records and data and conduct participant follow-up surveys; track participants as they enter, continue in, and complete postsecondary education; visit local middle, junior high, and high schools; coordinate campus visits and college day field trips; participate in staff development and in-service meetings; represent the Talent Search Project at state and regional TRIO conferences; provide regular reports and updates to the Talent Search Director; maintain a positive and professional work environment and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in social work, education, or related field required; Master’s degree in guidance and counseling or related field preferred; two to three years’ experience working in Talent Search or other related programs; excellent oral and written communication skills.
