Job Summary

As a key part of the Green Acres Media Team, the Audio Engineer will report to the Director of Broadcast. As member of the Specialty Staff, the ministry driven associate shall be a passionate, knowledgeable, punctual, and detail-oriented sound operator skilled in mixing, recording and editing music and audio for worship services and special events. The audio engineer will set-up, trouble shoot, and operate sound equipment in worship, recordings, and post-productions to ensure optimal sound quality in the house, on our live broadcast and streams as well as recordings. The audio engineer will be responsible for training volunteers and other members of the media team in the essentials for operating equipment and mixing sound.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Mix live sound during Sunday worship services, and special services/ministry events as required.
  • Proactively learn and master the stage wiring, monitor, and microphone systems in the Worship Center, to ensure efficient setup and streamline troubleshooting techniques.
  • Mix sound during weekly technical rehearsals with worship and media teams.
  • Perform sound checks to troubleshoot any equipment or audio issues prior to worship and recording projects.
  • Perform post-production sound re-mixes and edits for video and audio recordings. This may include podcasts, as well as weekly radio and television programs.
  • Be proficient in mixing both Front of house, monitors and live stream.
  • Be available on rotation to mix sound for weddings and funerals on campus.
  • Perform maintenance and support of campus audio systems in the chapel, student center, AEB, Lighthouse, etc.
  • Seek and train volunteers in operation of sound equipment for “basic” ministry events.
  • Assist media team with “basic” video and lighting setups and support for Connect Groups and ministries when required. This includes support and training of non-technical staff and volunteers on various small room AV systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Broadcast Manager.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Must foster a Christ-like attitude and seek to advance the vision of the church.
  • Must establish and foster exemplary relationships with church staff, volunteers, and members. ? Show proficiency in the operation of “large venue” digital soundboards. Experience with SSL, Midas, Behringer and Allen and Heath consoles is preferred.
  • Have a solid understanding of industry standard practices and technique in relation to sound reinforcement, studio, signal path, and audio infrastructure.
  • Experience in mixing different varieties of music, including band driven and other genres.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate strong attentiveness to detail.
  • Display leadership skills for directing a team of volunteers.
  • Show a commitment and ability to work in and contribute to the overall staff in a team-based environment.

Education And Experience

  • Formal live sound training and/or a minimum of 5 years of continuous professional Sound Engineering experience, preferably in a church or “road show” environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
